The Windsor Trace CDE is held each fall in Windsor, South Carolina about 15 miles from Aiken SC and is an American Driving Society recognized event.

Combined Driving is an equestrian sport that has horses/ponies (single ,pair or four-in hand ) pulling a carriage and controlled by a driver on the vehicle. It is an event with three phases that tests the harmony of the horse(s) and driver in  Dressage (Obedience), Marathon (obedience and speed) and Cones (obedience, rhythm and moderate speed). It is equivalent to the equestrian discipline of Three-day Eventing or similar to a human triathlon. The sport was started by HRH Prince Phillip of England in the 70"s.

Dressage is a phase to test the driver and horse(s)/pony(s) for rhythm, suppleness, and obedience with harmony doing various patterns accumulating the lest amount of penalty points.
Marathon is a cross country course that is very demanding showing the horse's/ponies' fitness and stamina, while demonstrating the accuracy and judgement of the driver to get the fastest time possible. This phase also accumulates penalties.

Cones
is an intricate course that has cones with balls placed on top. It is modeled after show jumping with the goal being to "go clean" by not knocking down any balls and staying within an allotted time frame to gain no penalty points.

Combined Driving is enjoyed by people of all ages. It is a sport that can use horses of any breed or size so horses and ponies are all welcome. The sport also requires many volunteers to make it possible so even those who don't drive still enjoy the sport!
